OUR COMMITMENT:
RESTORE, PROTECT, AND INVEST
IN THE FUTURE OF THE ISLAND FOR ALL BARBUDANS

From the outset, the Barbuda Ocean Club has been dedicated to using its resources and talents to support a rich, vibrant, and economically and environmentally sustainable community for all Barbudans.

Following the devastation of Hurricane Irma, we amplified this commitment and, working with the local community, defined the five pillars that guide everything we do.

Back the education, training, and futures of young Barbudans

While each touch upon a different aspect of life on the island, all support the goal of revitalizing the local community and making it more resilient for the future. We view our efforts here as a partnership between Barbuda Ocean Club, the local government, and most importantly, our neighbors on Barbuda.

Restoring Wetlands and Wildlife within Palmetto Point

More than 85% of the world’s wetlands have been destroyed in recent years and, until recently, the island of Barbuda followed this same tragic trend. The Barbuda Ocean Club team is extremely proud to work alongside the local community, environmental agencies and consultants, and our partners to seek ongoing solutions that create harmony between people and our natural environment.

A Healthier Life for our Neighbors

From “Wellness Wednesday”, a four-part dynamic workshop designed for participants to explore emotional, physical, intellectual, and financial wellness through guided discussions and personal assessments, to new medical equipment enhancing Barbuda’s blood laboratory, healthcare continues to improve for all Barbudans.

Safe drinking water for all Barbudans

Access to fresh water has been a long-standing problem for residents on the island. That tide is now turning.

Restoring Barbuda’s sand dunes

Sand dunes are essential to the wellbeing of people, plants, and animals on the island. After years of neglect, they are now getting the attention they deserve.

Access to Quality, Lifelong Education

Resources and guidance continue to enhance the education system, including Adequately Equipping Parents to Assist (AEPA), a parent coaching program focusing on skills, goals, and play-based learning; Kits for Kids, the distribution of learning and teaching materials to local schools; and LEXIA, a literacy subscription with a research-based platform that provides children with personalized learning and helps early identify gaps in reading skills.

Celebrating Culture Through the Arts

The Barbuda Ocean Club was proud to commission admired local artisan Odelia Butler to create custom hand-painted tote bags. Viewed together, the bags depicted the complete story of the island’s biodiversity and quickly became a source of reflection on Barbudan life. In addition, we provided the Halcyon Steel Orchestra with new section pans and were thrilled to see them win first place in the 2025 Panorama Competition—a testament to their skill, dedication, and the vibrant musical heritage of Barbuda.

Restoring Barbuda’s native vegetation and natural beauty

Working together, local experts, residents, and the Barbuda Ocean Club are restoring the island’s natural beauty and removing invasive and non-indigenous plants.

Playing to Win

We were happy to support Barbuda’s Bucks Generational Basketball Club as they participated in the Montserrat Invitational, a dynamic exhibition tournament featuring teams from six island: St. Eustatius, Antigua and Barbuda, BVI, St. Kitts, Nevis, and Montserrat. This event provided the opportunity for players to showcase their talent, teamwork, and competitive edge. We look forward to continuing to support youth athletic development through regional talent camps throughout 2026.

Inspiring entrepreneurs

Many Barbuda residents are eager to start and grow businesses. Access to capital and mentoring could give these entrepreneurs the opportunity they need and deserve.
